Funny Stuff From WHS The funniest moments taken from Wantagh High School. I hope that you can enjoy them on the many levels that I have! Entry 1: This reminds us all of the days spent in the "sub" (basement) of Wantagh High School. This is a picture from the 1972 (I think) Wantagh High School Yearbook. It shows the rifle range, the ultimate destination of our trips (about 30 in all) to the forbidden basement. Access to the sub was through friends in the stage crew (awesome people!!!). The rifle range was sealed off with heavy cinder blocks. The only way to get into it was to remove the large, heavy iron shield wall (seen in the back of the picture). This required pinning yourself between a wall and the other side of the shield in a dark, dirty duct (as Casta would say "Wonderful Alliteration - Grade: 85) and remove the bolts that held the shield together. Needless to say, we never got the shield off, and we always came home filthy. Good times! Entry 2: This reminds us of the times spent goofing off in "Winkies" AP Stat class. The class was just Poisson. I would rather watch ANOVA drive by on the Wantagh Parkway than watch that class. And it was hard to keep hope alive that you would learn anything, because all we did was write short narratives. It almost drove me to live in a unibomber-style SHAK, thinking of a way to rid the world of the TI-83. Good, clean fun, ho! Entry 3: This reminds us of AP History Review. This is the Cliszis mask. This was the creation of a kid who felt he didn't have to stay awake during the review session. His web page can be found here. It is the related cousin of the Ham mask. Entry 4: This reminds us of 11th grade C++ programming class. Instead of doing programming work for Kali Psihos, we just visited "Bert Is Evil" web sites. Good, not so clean, fun. Entry 5: This reminds us of Glen Yelenovic, the son of Kaptain Krk. This is traditional Krk'n garb, the likes of which his relatives still wear in Krk, Croatia. Rumors went around that Christopher Walken wore this while trying out for the role of Doctor Frank N Furter for Rocky Horror Picture Show. Those rumors have since been proven false. Entry 6 This reminds us of the Rafferty Romeo and Juliet project. We made a parody of the Shakespeare story, complete with a discotheque, flying cue cards, cross-dressing and lizard props (the local 5&10 was out of rubber chickens, so we had to get much more sturdy, more pain inducing lizard versions). It, retrospectivly, was a lot of fun, even the insuing police investigation. Entry 7 This reminds us of "Pigeons and You" - the wonderful calculus video that I worked on in 12th Grade. It was about the WHS shooting team using calculus to beat Seaford High School, and stop Richard Nixon, as well. Al Gore, George W, and Charleton Heston guest starred. Gene Shalit (supposedly) said that it was "Funny...to the point of laughter". Entry 8 This reminds us all of USTEDESSSHHHHHH!! Senora Murphy's Spanish class was probably one of the worst classes I have ever been in...and she undoubtedly graded me knowing that I felt that way. It had its moments - The Berman Family picture, the guy falling off the bike, feliz cumpleanos para ti, among todas las otras cosas estupides (sorry, I'm a bit rusty). Entry 9 This reminds us of "Blum", and 11th Grade AP History Class with G-Mo. What a bad textbook - between Robert M. La Follette, Sr (pictured above), Huey Long and the Paxton Boys, we were always entertained by the chapter that we were "supposed" to read. Well, that is all for now...If you have any WHS pictures to contribute, send it to hunth@wam.umd.edu. |
