  Jericho

My family moved to Jericho in 1984. It was the old house of Elias Hicks ( I think ). It was owned by the Friends For Long Island's Heritage. It is a very large house, I remember. It had to have enough room for Elias' 10 surviving children. The quirk of renting out the place was that you had to keep the outside and inside as close as possible to historic visage. Also, you had to deal with the must and mold from an old building. I lived in this house for about 4 years, until both my Grandfather and Grandmother passed away, and we moved to their house in Wantagh. While in this house, I went to preschool at the local United Methodist Church. We also picked up a few new members of the family - two cats (Sammy and Whiskers) and a dog (Fillmore). Memories include playing in the huge yard, making snowmen and sleding down the hill, as well as getting half electrocuted.
